Surplus Food Deliveries
The ECO Food Sharing Hub is temporarily closed due to Covid-19, but you can still reduce food from being wasted by either ordering a Surplus Food Selection, or by Paying It Forward so someone else can help us to reduce food waste!
Surplus Food Selection (Pay as you feel)
This pot-luck approach is a great way to try new foods, reduce your environmental impact, and learn new food saving tips! Get creative in the kitchen, use search engines to find new recipes, text your family for ideas, and try new dishes! Available Wednesday to Friday - Pay as you feel, plus delivery charge.
If you have food allergies please avoid using this food, due to the potential risk of cross-contamination. Surplus food is a bit ‘random’, whilst we will tailor the delivery to your household needs, we aren’t in a position to say in advance what food you will receive. If there is something in your selection which you definitely won’t eat, please pass it along to a neighbour or friend (whilst sticking to social distancing of course).
Delivery (£3.50)
As an environmental project, we are committed to keeping our carbon emissions low, and making our delivery routes as efficient as possible. As such, we are trying to maintain a 5 mile radius along select routes (see order form) so as to add minimal carbon miles to food that already has very high carbon miles.
This will also help us as an organisation, as we operate on a shoestring budget.
Price - what is Pay As You Feel?
We have made this service an affordable and accessible environmental choice. After you have received your box, please ‘Pay As You Feel’ for its contents, for advice about what we think pay as you feel means, see here.
Date Labels
Please be aware that food surplus is usually past its best before date. The best before date is a quality marker, as is ‘display until’ and ‘sell by’ - this means that the food will be of the highest quality until the date suggested, but we can use our human senses to distinguish its safety. However, the ‘use by’ date is very important as this date is a safety marker, we will not redistribute food past its use by date.
