What we do

We are taking action to reduce food waste in Aberystwyth. Growing food, transporting it and preparing it takes time, care and money. It uses precious environmental resources, like water, fertiliser and fuel. Wasting food is bad for our pockets and bad for our planet.

We collect the food local businesses are throwing away and redistribute it among the community. Through Food Sharing and Pay As You Feel meals, we bring local people together and show them ‘waste’ food can be tasty and nutritious.

“Our vision is for Aberystwyth to be a pioneering example of food sustainability. A place where food is grown, distributed and consumed in a fair and environmentally sustainable way. Where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to enjoy tasty and nutritious food. Where food waste is a thing of the past.”

Systems Change

Food Waste is created systematically throughout our food supply chain. Are we justifying a waste machine or are we moving towards a more circular food system?

Reducing Food Waste

We host the ECO Food Sharing Hub, an environmental and community hub in Aberystwyth, we are a volunteer team that connect with food businesses to share food that would otherwise be wasted. This is where our community fridge lives and it is for everyone. We welcome you to utilise the hub space for community activities, and we utilise other community spaces for ‘pop up’ community cafe events.
